Enter the Chronosphere Delays Upcoming Launch Ahead of Subnautica 2 Release

Developer Effort Star alongside publishers Joystick Ventures and Gamirror Games’ upcoming Enter the Chronosphere announced its upcoming launch recently… and promptly delayed it after competition arose. The action roguelike bullet-hell title invites players to battle in the titular locations, with randomly generated levels and runs key to roguelike titles.

So, why was the Early Access delayed from its original 14th of May release date? To put it incredibly simply — there was a bigger fish in the water… which is to say that Unknown World Entertainment announced that Subnautica would be launching on the same day, just a couple of hours earlier. Oops!

It’s not uncommon for titles to delay their imminent releases whenever a new one comes around and hogs up the space. Information released by Steam indicates that gamers don’t buy that many games on average, which means that competition is fierce whenever releasing titles, and there are hundreds of games coming out on Steam every single week.

Enter the Chronosphere is by no means a small title, proudly sitting at the #622 spot on Steam’s Top Wishlists with 4,250 Followers total, which sets it above many other titles looking to launch. However, the competition has been the top-wishlisted game on Steam for nine consecutive months, having 321,958 Followers in total.

A delay was well-warranted for the health of the game’s early launch. This is especially true when analysts always stress the importance of early reviews on Steam to keep up with the algorithm and to be shown off to more players — 10 reviews is just the floor that developers need to aim for.

Here’s what Ivan Carrillo, the Fund Manager at the publisher Joystick Ventures, had to say about the Enter the Chronosphere delay:

We are a simple publisher. When we saw the Subnautica 2 trailer and EA’s release date on the same day as Enter the Chronosphere, we decided to change our release dateWe don’t want to draw attention away from the most wishlisted game on Steam.

Now, the tactical start-stop bullet-hell gameplay title will instead be launching on the 25th of May 2026. It’ll release with three playable characters, five biomes, and an expected development cycle of roughly six months to reach its 1.0 launch.

For those interested, the title is set to release on PC via Steam Early Access on the 25th of May for $14.99! The demo is still available to get a sense of the gameplay first-hand before committing to any purchase.
