Unknown Worlds Entertainment’s Subnautica 2 is reaching its Early Access release relatively soon, as players can expect to jump into the sequel to the underwater horror survival experience. Inviting players into an underwater adventure, they’ll be able to delve into the depths either alone or in co-op with up to three other players, bringing a new change to the Subnautica IP.
Now that the release is so close, and players are looking forward to the upcoming launch, the team has entered into its marketing phase. With just two weeks ahead of its 14th of May 2026 release date, we’ve received the first Dev Vlog for the title, giving us a look at what content we can expect.
The first Dev Vlog begins tackling the question regarding the Early Access launch, and what that means for Subnautica 2 as a whole. As it stands, it’s not a completed product, but it includes a “solid foundation” that Unknown Worlds Entertainment seeks to build on for the following two to three years, depending on player feedback.
That said, for those who have been joining in on the Subnautica franchise’s Early Access experiences up to this point, Subnautica 2 offers the most polished and ambitious beginning to date. This includes more biomes, creatures, leviathans, and craftables, meaning that the foundation of the direct sequel is already broader, promising to make it the biggest and most ambitious release yet.
Finally, we learn a bit more about some of the technicals that we can expect. This includes PC specs beginning from Minimum to Ultra++, the upcoming launch times for the Early Access, and even the pricing, which was revealed to be $29.99.
